Hearing about 7-Eleven’s BYO Cup Day got me really excited. It’s such a breath of fresh air whenever a company thinks of something outside the box as a way to market their brand. For 7-Eleven, they put the spotlight on everyone’s favorite: their Slurpee.
A couple of days ago I was invited to the media launch of BYO Cup Day.
It was a huge success, people really got into the spirit of bringing their own cups! Look at this guy and his giant cup!
Before I start rambling on like I always do (teehee), I need to let you understand what BYO Cup Day is all about. BYO = Bring Your Own. The abbreviation “B.Y.O.” has been used for decades, most commonly for house parties when hosts tell the guests to Bring Your Own Bottle/Beer/Booze.
It began in 7-Eleven Australia back in 2011.
You can bring any cup you want as long as it fits the required size. The campaign was unsurprisingly so successful that it won many prestigious awards. 7-Eleven Malaysia followed suit in 2012 and this year, 7-Eleven Philippines is doing it too!!!
BYO Cup Day happens on November 7! It starts at 6AM and you can fill up your creative container for only P29!!!
Your cup must fit inside this maCUPangyarihang bilog which is 9 inches in diameter!
Here are other requirements when it comes to your cup:
- must be clean
- no leakage
- made in solid material (non-expandable)
- one cup is to one person
What an awesome campaign – it also encourages Filipinos to BYO! We should always bring our own stuff: totes for shopping, baunan and utensils, etc. Let’s lessen our carbon footprints!:)
It was also a very awesome event because I bumped into some familiar faces!
I also met fellow blogger Dani Barretto at the event!
So plan it now with your friends – think of it as an extension of Halloween! Upload photos with your craziest cups on 7-Eleven Philippines’ Facebook or on Instagram, just tag @711ph and use the hashtag #BYOCupDay to easily get a chance to win P5,000!
November 7th is 11/7… OMG SO COOL ngayon ko lang na-gets!!! Hahaha! Good job 7-Eleven! Enjoy, everybody!
