Eat Girl: Bonding Over Tokyo Tokyo’s New Chicken-nomiyaki

My best friend and Cheats bandmate Candy has been very busy flourishing in her career as a radio DJ, events host, and writer. I have my own stuff going on, too, so there are times when we only see each other for gigs or band practices. Of course, we enjoy singing our hearts out and being in the company of our other band mates but we both know the importance of one-on-one BFF dates.

We usually send each other outfit shots for important events. When we’re undergoing a fashion crisis (i.e. “wala na akong damit, bessy”), we call spontaneous shopping sprees or we simply swap stuff (that’s a lot of S’s).
I have to say, though, that the one thing we love most is eating together with a side of chikahan.

Candy couldn’t make it to our Cheats US tour for work-related commitments so before the rest of us left, I asked her to join me for an afternoon of stuffing our faces with yummy Japanese food – our absolute fave.

All of Tokyo Tokyo’s chicken dishes are crowd favorites. There’s the Big Chicken Katsu, Fried Chicken Karaage, Best Chicken Teriyaki, and Mt. Katsu. It’s no wonder that the latest addition to their ever-growing menu is a combination of traditional and modern Japanese flavors in a new chicken dish: the Chicken-nomiyaki!

It’s a generously-sized, juicy and crunchy Big Chicken Katsu topped with Tokyo Tokyo’s very own savory Okonomiyaki Japanese pancake, tonkatsu sauce, Japanese mayo, tempura crumbs and onion leeks.
You can enjoy it 3 ways:

  • Ala carte with a bowl of unlimited rice for only P200
  • As a bento meal, with a bowl of unlimited rice, a bowl of miso soup and jelly dessert or 4pc California Maki and a refreshing glass of red iced tea only for P260

  • Or as a sumo meal: Chicken-nomiyaki with 4 pieces of prawn tempura, 2 bowls of unlimited rice, and 2 glasses of red iced tea for only P385 (you may add P40 for 2 bowls of miso soup)

I would suggest going for the last option. Bring your best friend, split the bill and end up saving money while enjoying the meal a thousandfold.
