Cheats just got home fresh from St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival in Singapore. To say that it was an amazing experience is such an understatement. IT WAS THE BEST. Being the first Filipino band to ever get invited to play there is a career high for us and I want to thank everybody who’s supported us. We’ve got a lot more surprises planned out for 2016 and I can’t wait to tell you all about it once they’re finalized.

For now, I want to help our fellow Filipina musicians and LockedDown Entertainment sisters Flying Ipis get to Austin, Texas for the prestigious SXSW Music Festival!

The South by Southwest® (SXSW®) Conferences & Festivals offer the unique convergence of original music, independent films, and emerging technologies. Fostering creative and professional growth alike, SXSW® is the premier destination for discovery.Year after year, the event is a launching pad for new creative content. New media presentations, music showcases and film screenings provide buzz-generating exposure for creators and compelling entertainment for audiences. Conference panel discussions present a forum for learning, business activity thrives at the Trade Shows and global networking opportunities abound. Intellectual and creative intermingling among industry leaders continues to spark new ideas and carve the path for the future of each ever-evolving field, long after the events’ conclusion. Flying Ipis is an all-girl garage punk band and they’re the 3rd Filipino act to play the festival:

This has been one of our band-dreams, to be able to participate, perform, and represent our country at the SXSW. So you can just imagine how THRILLED we were when we received our invitation letter from SXSW, to perform at their music festival this March 2016. :) Being an independent rock band from the Philippines (fellow artists would know!), we play out of pure passion with little financial returns; making travelling from Manila to the United States not easy on the bank account. That is why we are singing to your generous hearts of hearts that you help us fly to Texas, and support our little girl’s dream of performing at the SXSW! (via ArtisteConnect)

Thanks to IndieManila for spreading the word about three ways you can help these roaches fly to Texas!

The band needs to raise at least Php 400,000 to cover all the expenses for the said trip. We can be part of this wonderful journey and fulfill one of Flying Ipis’ band-dreams by being part of #TeamIpis and helping them out!

  • Pledge via Text Message. Text FLYING IPIS to 2158-3668. You can contribute 20, 50, 100 & 200. Imagine if 1,000 of us will text Php20 each, that’s Php20,000 already!
  • Crowdfunding Pledge. Visit the FLIGHT OF THE ROACHES TO SXSW ArtisteConnect page and choose the amount you want to pledge. You can contribute from Php250 ($5.22) to Php20,000 ($418). Each amount will not only help the band but you can also get some premium Ipis items — from exclusive stickers, kacha bag, t-shirt, airplane tickets, and even a 30-minute private Flying Ipis gig!
  • Spread the word about it. Post this feature on your Facebook wall or Twitter feed and tag your friends that you know can help. Maybe a friend from the US, UK, or any parts of the world who believes in Filipino music or music in general and can support this cause!

Let’s do this!!

Congrats for being able to play at Laneway Festival! One of my bucket list is to be able to go to 1 of your gigs. I was an intern at Philippine Cerebral Palsy, Inc in Sacred Heart Street, Makati City. Ang lapit lang nun from Saguijo. I checked your gig schedule pero parang wala atang gig nung October? or di ko na naabutan. Yun lang. Sana in the future :)
