This post is 2 weeks late. It’s because I practically went straight to the hospital for dengue when I got home to Manila. But I still want to blog about a great MTV Asia experience as all my partnerships with them have always been fun!
Things didn’t go so well at the start of our trip. Actually, things didn’t go well even before the trip started! We had a gig Friday night for Flying Ipis‘ music video launch and we were the last band to play. We had an awesome time and we might have gotten a bit carried away because it was Candy‘s birthday so we got home at around 3AM. I felt like it was no biggie since I’m used to going on little sleep and we would just be asleep on the plane anyway but in retrospect, it was hugely irresponsible of us. Our flight was at 10:30AM, we were all packed and ready for the overnight trip. We were just going to take a cab to the airport so Jim and I took a quick nap at his place. Jim insists that he set the alarm for 6am but I woke up on my own at 9:30am.
OF COURSE WE MISSED OUR FLIGHT, ARE YOU CRAZY?!!? Haha it was amazingly stupid but I tend not to dwell on negative things you can’t change. For me it’s always “There’s a problem? Okay, what’s the solution?” never “IF ONLY I DID THIS OR THAT” – well, okay, sometimes there are regrets but I don’t spend more than 5 minutes crying over spilled milk. It’s definitely a lesson learned but at the moment I tried to keep it light because Jim is a ball of stress in situations like these and we would only end up blaming each other if I didn’t keep it breezy.
I squeezed his hand in the cab, sheepishly laughed at our stupidity until he calmed down and started laughing with me. That’s when I knew he was the one… ANODAW?!?!?! Charot. We bought new tickets to Singapore. It was no one’s fault but ours and I still had an obligation to MTV Asia. Thank goodness we were able to get on the 1:30pm flight out.
Spaghetti and taco for lunch? I knew the day could only get better!! Haha. Don’t I just look fabulously haggard?
I wanted to tweet something like “I missed you…” – me to my flight but I was scared my mom would get so mad at me for being so irresponsible. Hehe so here I am confessing because she will probably read this. Hey, mom, I promise it will NEVER happen again. Lesson learned!!!:))
So we got to the hotel at 6pm and we were so incredibly tired we took another nap before heading out for dinner. I wanted Jim to try out the restaurant I went to the last time I was in Singapore. I really like the concept of Marché and idea of shopping around for your food, watching the chefs cook it in front of you.
It’s got a nice home-y feel to it too – I was joking around with Jim pretending to complain that there were socks hanging right beside us. Haha!
Jim’s ate Mia also happened to be in Singapore visiting her boyfriend Rahul to celebrate their anniversary. Naturally we crashed their date haha – just kidding, we met up after their dinner date to get drinks around the Boat Quay area.
Rahul then invited us to a bar across the street called Altitude which had an amazing view!! I think it was 80 floors up!
Here’s a photo ate Mia sent me! I’m still a little pudgy here but it’s okay, I lost a lot of weight after getting dengue LOL
Who run tha world?
I really enjoyed Altitude’s song choices – mostly 90’s to early 2000’s hip hop and RnB. It was pretty chill too because it was a Sunday.
We went home around 11pm since we had to be up bright and early for the VMA Live Screening! I woke up shivering and feeling a little sick. I knew my body was punishing me for not getting enough rest the past few days. Still, I was very excited for the live screening and visiting MTV Asia’s head quarters once again!
Such a cool office!
There were bloggers from all over Asia at the event! Back in April I was with Tim Yap for the Movie Awards, unfortunately he couldn’t make it this time around!
It was a fantastic show. I feel sorry for you if you missed it. There were a lot of crazy moments. Nicki Minaj performed her ASS off with 3 performances, Nicki owned her wardrobe malfunction, J.Lo looked absolutely stunning, Sam Smith killed it, Lorde cursed onstage, Taylor Swift refused to jump (lol), Miley Cyrus sent somebody else to claim her award, some rapper called The Black Keys “The Black Eyes,” Beyoncé silenced Jay-z breakup rumors, and so much more!! Go to vma.mtv.com for all the highlights and off-screen footage from the show.
Thank you so much, MTV Asia!! I had a great time as usual despite the fever!! Next time I will definitely not miss my flight LOL!
P.S. Go ahead and guess what my favorite part of the show was
