David Lynch, director of the very trippy Mulholland Drive, decided to make an ad for Christian Louboutin nail polish that sells for $50 apiece. (That’s a little over Php2,000 for us third-world citizens.) It seems like Louboutin is doing a full circle since the creation of the iconic red soled shoes had a lot to do with nail polish!
PARIS — Back in 1992, surveying one design from his third signature footwear collection, Christian Louboutin was dismayed that the actual shoe wasn’t as colorful and compelling as his original sketch, especially underneath.
And so he snatched a jar of nail varnish from an assistant, who howled in protest, and his famous red soles were born. (WWD)
I rarely wear anything other than black or red on my nails (my favorite color is Rouge Noir by Chanel) so I am wishing for this.
“The red sole was born from red nail polish. I am giving back to nails what the shoe took from the nails many years ago.” – Christian Louboutin
It will come in different colors as well, but I can’t find them in the online store right now. I only want the rouge one anyway hehe.
Lynch has worked with Louboutin before with www.louboutin-fetish.com. Don’t click the link if topless women are something your boss frowns upon LOL.
The nail polish is available online and at Saks Fifth Avenue. It will soon be available at Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Nordstrom, and Sephora.
