A frequently asked question from my readers: what tattoos do I have and what do they mean? So here’s a post dedicated to explaining myself and my tattoos.
Our parents told us we had to wait until we were 18 to get tattoos. You don’t hear that often because the usual parental guide to getting inked is, “IF YOU GET A TATTOO, IDI-DISOWN KITA” hahaha!
Here’s a backgrounder on my only 2 tattoos:
3 STARS & A SUN
I was tattoo-free until late 2008. I found out my then-boyfriend had cheated on me so I had one of my friends, Danni, pick me up and we went to a tattoo shop and both got tattoos on the spot. What a friend, Danni. Who does that for a friend?? I love Danni. She got a horse shoe tattooed on her nape since she’s an equestrienne.
Anyway, I thought about what my dad (who was already sick with leukemia at the time) would have done to the guy if he wasn’t bed-ridden. He always joked around when I was in high school that he would “break the legs” of any guy that would hurt me.
I got a smaller version of his 3 Stars & A Sun tattoo. It’s to remind me that he will always have my back no matter what. He is with me forever and it will be up to me to choose my partner carefully. As you can tell, it worked <3
GRADE SCHOOL LINES
For my 21st birthday, I got lines from a basic grade school notebook tattooed on my forearm. It’s to remind myself to keep writing and to keep my life simple and fuss-free. No overthinking, no backstabbing, no bullshit. Go back to your grade school self and just play, learn, and have fun.
I think I’m done with tattoos for the meantime. My mom’s also begged me and Maxx to stop already. Hahaha!! So I’ll probably get a tattoo only if she agrees to get a matching one with me. Or maybe I’ll get one of a heart that says MOM so she can’t get mad. Lelz.
