I had a couple of things in mind when I was thinking of what to give our guests to thank them for celebrating our special day with us:
- What would I like to receive as a wedding guest? For example, I didn’t want it to be a framed photo of Jim & I because I personally wouldn’t want a framed photo of my friends being all lovey-dovey. Where the heck would I put that? On my bedside table? No thanks.
- It has to be something useful so guests won’t just throw it away and let it go to waste.
I want to take the time to talk about the souvenirs we ended up giving our guests.
It was a very simple no-nonsense thank you bag but it was made with a lot of love with the help of our very awesome friends.
I decided on a room fragrance spray because both Jim and I love that stuff haha we can’t say it enough: good-smelling rooms are a game changer! When you come home to a home that smells great, it just makes all the difference in your mood. So I collaborated with one of my bridesmaids, the very beautiful Janna Tee, whose family company is in the business of manufacturing bottles for perfumes. She offered to make perfumes for our guests as her wedding gift to me and Jim and that’s when I thought of making room fragrance sprays instead! We met up and she brought different testers so we could decide which scent to go with. I definitely wanted the spray to smell like a forest. Our wedding was to be held in Baguio so I kind of wanted it to be like “Baguio in A Bottle” or something. Janna was so very helpful and sweet and she even brought different kinds of bottle designs. It was such a huge help <3
She said their company could print on the bottle directly but I had a different idea! I was thinking of going for an apothecary feel for our brown bottles.
I contacted CJ De Silva-Ong and asked if she would be game to design it for us. Being the awesome person she is, she gave us the go signal and asked what we wanted to put on the label. The next question we tackled was: what would we call our fragrance? Okay, this is so random but Jim & I always break into song. Like, always. And one of the songs we like to sing out of nowhere is Pirelli’s Miracle Elixir from the Tim Burton movie Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (yeah you can click it for reference). Funny because the “miracle elixir” from that movie allegedly makes hair grow back but it’s actually made of piss. We think it’s just really hilarious. Rest assured, OUR miracle elixir is NOT made of piss!!! Hahaha. The result is a beautiful label exactly as I imagined it:
I really wanted to put “The Bedroom’s Greatest Defense Against The Dark FARTS” hahaha but I thought that might be going too far. As you can see we also included things we love as ingredients. So perfect huhuhu! Then I asked one of FrancisM Clothing Co.‘s partners, Willy Velasquez, where they get their stickers printed and he hooked me up. Superb!
The next project was a mini-album called Jim & Saab Save The World. Heehee. The idea was for them to play it on their ride home from Baguio the next day. The recording was fairly easy, we got it done in 2 weeks with the help of our best friend and Cheats band mate Ernest Aguila. I wanted CDs that looked like vinyl records but couldn’t find any locally so I had to order 350 pieces from Amazon.com. And since I am a psycho control freak who didn’t want anybody else to do things for me, I personally burned each CD and while the next one was burning, I would write the label by hand. I actually really enjoyed doing it! Yay, arts and crafts!
The craft paper used for the CD backing and the small thank you card were scraps from our friend Kim Haw’s paper company. It’s also the same craft paper I used for the inside of our invitations. I’m very thankful we got to recycle in the process! The THANK YOU label was made by my Dymo label maker. So 90s. So hip~~. Lelz. Shout out to my girls Lauren Young, Victor Young, Nyko Rodriguez and Candy Gamos for coming over and helping with the labels and more!!
The bags, tiny clothespins, and the twine used to secure the CD were bought by our ninang and one of my mom’s best friends Cecille Aganon. I personally wanted to get the stuff from Divisoria but she said she was going anyway so she was taking photos and canvassing materials for me. I chose one that perfectly fit our CD and bottle. It came together perfectly! Thanks again to tita C!
The tracks in our mini-album were songs we both liked and wanted to cover. Here’s the playlist, I hope you enjoy it. It may not perfect but we had a blast making this so it’s pretty perfect to us xxx
Our souvenirs mean so much to us because just like our whole wedding, it was made out of so much love, time and effort by ourselves and our loved ones as well. Thank you again to all who helped us! We love you!!!
