What A Year This Day Has Been

Somebody commented on one of my posts that she misses my random updates on my blog. So here I go. Brace yourselves.

6AM

I heard Joey shuffling by the bedroom door — an indication she had to pee. She wasn’t barking or anything. I’m a very light sleeper and I can feel it when my child needs me, I guess. Drank some coffee and finally tackled our home budget. Last night I fixed Cheats’ band budget and got so O.C.

I’ve been really enjoying my Bullet Journal this year

It takes a while to get used to moving money around, writing checks, deciding how to spell checks/cheques, keeping track of everything. If you want to stay on a budget, it’s really something you should tackle every day. Write down everything you spend your money on. Otherwise, you’ll be wasting a few hours trying to backtrack and kicking yourself for not taking notes.

9:30AM

Changed into my gym clothes, tried out a new cardio style on the treadmill today. ***SPOILER*** Skip this whole passage if you don’t care about the gym.

INTERVAL (24 minutes)
Incline: 2
3.8 kph – 2 mins
6kph – 1 min
3.8 kph – 2 mins

3.8 kph – 2mins
6 kph – 1 min

STEADY 20 minute walk (3.8kph)
Start with incline of 6
Every minute, move up the incline by 1
After 10 minutes, move down the incline by 1 every minute

CALORIES BURNED: 270

I hope you understood all that because I wrote it down in case you wanted to copy it or something. I learned that on cardio days, you’re supposed to try and burn at least twice your weight. I’m 129.5 lbs right now. Way up from a couple of years ago. Ack! Been consciously trying to trim down because I’m not very happy about the extra belly pooch. Stay tuned for updates!

12NOON

Cup Fiction meeting! Tried some of our latest offerings. Just wait for the new cakes we’re coming out with next week! SUPER YUM.

We interviewed some people for the barista position. One girl surprised us by being very honest about wanting weekends off because she likes going to the beach. She’s 20 and fresh out of college. I totally understood her but my partners — more experienced with 9-to-5 jobs — found it a little strange for her to be almost demanding to work only 4 days a week. There must be more and more articles on work-life balance or something. Wish we could afford to make it work because I really liked her and I think she’d make a good addition to the team.

I used to be so candid on this blog. Now I’m so self-conscious because the people I talk about might stumble upon my page and it’ll be awkward. In any case, if you’re reading this, I hope you know I’m rooting for you! I say yes to the idea of part-timers, but I’m not part of the operations side of the business so I don’t know if our budget says yes to it. Hehe. (If anybody’s interested in being a full-time barista though, pls send your CV to jobs@cupfiction.ph.)

Anyway, in case you missed it, we’ve got an ongoing promo for our baked goods. We bake them fresh daily so we’re selling them at 50% off 8pm onwards. This is not a drill! Fresh loaves of artisanal bread for just P45. Whuuut.

3PM

Back home, plopped down on the bed and almost watched season 2 of Younger, this random show I started watching because “I don’t want to watch good shows without you,” I told Jim. So I picked a show I know he won’t like. Haha. It’s about a 40-year-old woman trying to pass off as a 26-year-old. Do you guys know it? It’s so brainless, I like keeping it on in the background while I’m doing other stuff I could be focusing on.

But, no. We only have a little over a month before our trip to Sydney and we still have no Australian VISAs. So I spent the next hours researching and collecting documents to upload to their online site. Yup, you can apply for an Australian VISA online, apparently. I’m so amazed. I also applied for my US VISA online last February (APPROVED, THANK GOD). And I’m applying for my Canadian VISA next — it’s also online. Ah, technology. Cutting out the middle man. Thank you.

6PM

I read the workout program I’ve been following since the start of February. I skimmed through it the first time and didn’t read the bonus sections in the end. It’s only after a WHOLE MONTH of following it that I realized I was following the “maintenance” mode of the program. GAHHHHH. In fair naman, nag maintain talaga ako kahit ang lakas ko kumain. I kept saying, “this is the best program” because I was eating so much every day. Yun pala I was eating roughly 400 calories more than I should have if I wanted to drop a few pounds. Hihihi. So I basically wasted a whole month. OR, in my supportive BFF Candy’s words, “think of it as a month-long training!!”

Saklap, friends! I was working out very hard 6 days a week. HAHAHA.

Anyway, I’ll share the program with you now that I FINALLY figured it out. Let’s see if it works. But hey, at least I feel stronger because I started making daily exercise a part of my routine.

HATE O’CLOCK

217 lawmakers voted in favor of the death penalty. House Bill 4727 will allow executions to be done through hanging, firing squad, or lethal injection.

It’s the people who are supposed to protect us that are running this country to the ground. Do they need a death penalty, even? Eh ang dami nang pinatay kahit wala ito. My chest is getting heavy, I’m trying to keep myself from ranting and calling them names and wishing that this world just explodes. *sigh*

Let’s just be the light in this fucking blackhole. Keep reading, keep learning, and let’s help each other figure out what to do next. In the meantime, keep your cool and be kind to your neighbors. Don’t forget to breathe.

Tomorrow is another day.

♥,
Saab

I actually really love Younger! I think it’s a great women empowerment show that tackles a lot of womens’ issues if you get into it further. We definitely need more shows like that because I feel like the shows nowadays makes my brain too fried. After having a long day at work, all I need is a light show like Younger to calm my nerves and give me good vibes.

I’m an advocate of work/life balance so good on your applicant for setting her stance! It would be better that she was honest to you from the get go as opposed to being all goody-goody then not being happy with the job/hours if you guys hired her (and you not being happy with her performance because she was unhappy). Hope everything works out well for all parties on that front!

Sydney is love! Hehe. It’s nice nga that you can apply for your visa online without the need for appearance. It’s fast, easy and reliable. I applied this year again and I got my visa grant after three days so I think you’re still in good shape.

    Have fun!

No need. Their visa is electronic. They will send you a visa grant notice in your email then it’s automatic already when you check in and sa immigration! You just have to print the visa grant notice because sometimes immigration in the Philippines ask for it pero Australian immigration very chill lang.

      Enjoy your trip!

Try to write slowly and in all caps — your penmanship doesn’t have to be A+, as long as you can read it!:)

I wish Cup Fiction will have a branch here in Cebu, judging on the food photo above :)) (ugh! love cookies). Maybe the applicant that likes to go to the beach is a part-time surfer? or a secret mermaid, perhaps? jk.

I like this post coz it kinda give you a snippet of your daily activities + your thoughts while trying to watch but not Younger. We’re kinda the same, that I prefer to watch to good series w/ my bf especially, Mr. Robot. I’m binge watching every weekend on Riverdale (shipping Jughead <3 Betty), Powerless, Big Little Lies, The Magicians (eeekkk: Pen/ okay inhale) and this is soo out of the selection but I kinda like the plot of this Korean drama titled W. Btw, did you see GOT's teaser? why? July? okay I know I've been blabbering here on your blog post .. sarrey.

    Nice kicks.

OMG HOW DO YOU GET SO MUCH DONE IN A DAY??? #ProductivityGoals :D I’m so happy that you’re visiting Sydney soon!! Bondi Beach is a great place to stay in Sydney medyo malayo nga lang siya sa City – 30 mins but it’s super worth it! The Rocks is nice din it’s within the city centre and everything’s walking distance from there!! Please visit Melbourne too! The weather in that city is NAKAKALOKA. You get 4 seasons in a day!! :D
