Around the time I first started talking and when I could answer the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I’m told my answer would always be: MOMMY.
It was pretty strange for a grade schooler to be openly sharing that I wanted to have my first child when I turned 18 and that I didn’t need to have a husband. It was a Disney Princess’ nightmare.
Even if my childhood dream was a little unconventional, I knew that the reason behind it was my wonderful relationship with my own mother (side note: her family nickname is Snow White because… well, she’s snow white). So when I figured out that the narrow age gap between us wasn’t the only reason we got along, I didn’t feel the pressure of bearing a child at a young age anymore. Praise the lord. Hahaha! The reason we get along so well is the fact that my mom really goes the extra mile to show me how much she loves me. She was our driver, calendar, make up artist, dictionary, pillow, and so much more all our years growing up. I only wish I can show her how much I love her too.
Nido Fortified launched their ‘Wear Your Love’ campaign to help kids express their appreciation for their #1MOMS and I’m happy our family was part of it! Nido Fortified let kids, with the help of their dads/ates/kuyas, customize t-shirts with reasons of why their moms are #1 in their hearts.
Here are some of our gifts to mom
I had a hard time thinking of a reason why mom is #1 because I couldn’t seem to pinpoint just one. I decided to keep it simple, sweet, and with the hopes of getting more of her pancakes in my tummy! Hehe.
But no, we didn’t let mom cook for us on Mother’s Day. Instead, we went to her favorite restaurant Milky & Sunny in Kapitolyo!
And I still had pancakes hehe
Ate Unna is a mom of 3 kids and they all celebrated with us!:)
Mom had the aptly-named Mama Meaty Spaghetti – perfect for the occasion!
Of course she didn’t wear any of our shirts because that would be favoritism haha! Belated happy mother’s day, mom! I already greeted you last Sunday but I just wanted to put it out there for all the world to see! I love you!<3
“I don’t know what it is about food your mother makes for you, especially when it’s something that anyone can make – pancakes, meat loaf, tuna salad – but it carries a certain taste of memory.” – Mitch Albom
